33 Weeks Pregnant

By the time you are 33 weeks pregnant her growth is rapid and she is adding several hundred grams in weight each week. She now weighs between 2 and 2.3 kgs and is about 44 cm tall. The little miracle growing in your stomach is now the size of a medium melon.

Your baby’s skin will start to look less wrinkly as the fat has started filling into her body. While her skull is now fully formed, the bones in it are still flexible, soft and separated to enable her passage through the birth canal.

Your changing body

With your baby bump now big enough to attract loads of attention, it is becoming difficult to not only sleep comfortably but to also find a position to comfortably sit. You may also have noticed that you are becoming increasingly clumsy. This is because your growing belly has shifted your center of gravity. At 33 Weeks pregnant it is best to slow down and take extra caution as you go about your day to avoid unwanted injuries.

At the end of each day, you may also notice that your feet and ankles are swollen. This is a result of water retention (also known as edema) and it should be expected at this point of pregnancy. Because of the body changes, you will need to listen to your body and make adjustments to continue enjoying the experience.
