What makes a movie so great and entertaining? I think, in large part it’s because we see a part of us in the movie. If a movie represents who we are or what we are going through then there is a high chance of us loving it. Which is the same for novels. If it can put to words our experiences, personalities or even challenges, there’s a high chance we’ll be intrigued and entertained.
That’s why we have put together coming of age movies for teens. These movies are entertaining and relatable to teenagers as well.
1. Mean Girls
All high school have groups and cliques that one can’t get in. Nerds, Emos and the Queen Bees. Mean Girls is a presentation of a typical high school. Starring Lindsay Lohan, the film is an adaptation of Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman and it’s one of those films you don’t get tired of as a teenager. There is a part 1 and 2.
2. Romeo And Juliet
Starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Claire Danes, Romeo and Juliet is a tragic case of boy meets girl, falls in love, both family hate each other, boy kills girl’s cousin and boy and girl kill themselves.
3. The Inbetweeners
Four troubled 18 year olds from the England go on holiday to Malia.
4. Eclectrick Children
Racheal has been raised in a Mormon community and believes that she’s been impregnated by listening to music. She jets off to Vegas to find the father of her child.
5. 10 Things I hate About You
Bianca and Kat’s parents won’t let them date in fear of teen pregnancy. So Bianca comes up with a plan for both of them to date as per their parents’ rules which ends up in a sonnet by antisocial Kate called 10 Things I hate About You and a kiss.
6. Maid in Manhattan
Maid in Manhattan stars Jeniffer Lopez who works as a maid in a first class Manhattan Hotel. She meets a wealthy a wealthy Christopher Marshall who’s an heir to a political dynasty. Christopher assumes that she’s a guest at the hotel and when Jeniffer’s true identity is revealed, it threatens to set them apart.
7. Love and Basketball
Two basket ball enthusiasts; one a natural talent and another a competitive but emotional player fall for each other. Will their different pursuits of basketball stardom pull the apart?
8. The Breakfast Club
Sent to detention, these high school kids discover that they have more in common than they thought.
9. ATL
ATL is a film about growing up, having friends. working for your future and the real meaning of friends and friendship. You will get to see rapper TI in his element.
10. Stomp The Yard
Stomp the yard is a dance drama. A gifted street dancer enrolls in a Atlanta University and gets himself caught up between fraternities who want to use his skills for a dance competition.
