7 Credible Places to Donate Clothes in Nairobi

Do you have any clothes lying around that you or your kids have grown out of? You can donate them to credible charities that help those in need. Remember that nothing is too little or too much to donate.

Here is a list of a few credible places to make those donations. Please be very careful when making donations especially money, as there are many inauthentic people out there who seek to defraud you and the charity they may claim to represent.

1. Madharau Slums Initiative

Madharau slums is an area not many have heard of but a light needs to be shone. They are located on the outskirts of Thika. The initiative is the brain child of Susan Gitau Counseling Foundation in partnership with Gifted Hands Initiative Program. There is actually an event on the 25th of this month in support of this initiative. Click here for more information. The initiative seeks to help young girls of this community between the ages of 14 and 25 as well as their children.

2. Homeless of Nairobi

You have probably come across this page on Facebook. It was started by Shamit Patel who had a touching enounter with a homeless family in Nairobi. He realized that they have become too ignored by society and their situation normalized. He created the page to be a ‘virtual home’ for them. Many of them have great potential.

Below is the translation :
We are the sufferers of Westland
Every day we depend on the bones of K.F.C
We set up camp at a place called deep sea
Kenya belongs to who, if not us?
I wake up headed for Muthurwa, to look for food, even just a bit of ugali.
I’m still hungry but my face stays strong
And yet these people still want my vote
The government belongs To Uhuru, but still, the screams won’t stop
Because there is no light
And yet the city Council still chase hawkers here to there looking for money
Look at how dry my skin is, you would think me an animal
I have no money.
When the ladies see me they call me the love guru.
I burn through like copper, Yes I am the stopper.
