Women’s Run 2018

On the  very first day of the 16 days of activism, a consortium of state and non-state actors are organizing  an exclusively women’s only run, to raise awareness of the prevalence of sexual and gender based violence in Kenya, and to call for protection for women and girls in law and in practice.

A first for Kenya and indeed the region, this ten (10) Kilometer run- or walk depending on one’s ability – will allow women, traditionally on the receiving end of violations ,in their own voice and in unison to highlight issues of protection themselves.

The run  themed, “protection against SGBV”  is aimed at raising awareness of the prevalence of sexual and gender based violence in Kenya including in schools, homes and work places and to call for protection for women and girls in law and in practice.

The run will  also provide a platform for the desegregated participants to show case the specific areas and issues they work on through placards, billboards and booths set up closer to the date of the run and on the day of the run.

It is in this regard that Equality Now, as a member of the convening  consortium, would like to invite you  to participate in the run.

They would be indeed honoured if you could engage  in either or  in both of the following ways :

  1. Buying a T-shirt  at Ksh.1,000 and participating in the run as individuals or organisation teams. (MPESA Pay Bill 878659, Account:  Equality)

  1. Sponsoring elements of the run through taking up packages of Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze and making the run  part of your organisational activities for 16 days of activism.(Packages attached)

We’ve attached a flier on the run for further information.

Please do get in touch with  Judy Gitau +254722337825 or Florence Machio (+254724802796) fmachio@equalitnow.org  for further information or any assistance  to enable you run for  the protection of women and girls against SGBV!
