Healthy Homemade Sausages

Most processed meats have some additives that are not very healthy. From preservatives, nitrates to food colouring, there is just a lot of additives in most sausages so it is very healthier to make them at home. It is easy and they taste really good. They even keep well  in the fridge (about 4 days) as well as the freezer (about 3 months).

Ingredients

  • 300g Beef mince
  • 1/3 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, toasted in a dry pan on low heat for about 2 minutes and then crushed in a mortar and pestle or grinder

  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 small clove of garlic, crushed and chopped finely
  • 1 bunch dania stalks, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of finely chopped red onion
  • 1/5 teaspoon of chilli pepper
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of ground chia seeds which help to bind the sausage without affecting the flavour (optional – without it the sausage might fall apart but it will not be too bad)

Mix the ingredients and make a sausage shape using a some cling film. Leave in the fridge so that the flavours mingle, at least 30 minutes but they tastes amazing after like 2 days.

Cook in a pan, medium-low heat, with a little coconut oil, about 4 minutes per side (more like 3 sides so that you get a cook time of 12 minutes.

Serve with a some coleslaw and ketchup on a hotdog bun. Delicious!
