Do This To Your Breasts Tonight
Ready Set Go! Check yourself
Grab those boobies ladies, because this month is Breast Cancer Awareness month! So pull that top off, fling your bra to the floor and follow the instructions below. Why? Because 40% of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump (Johns Hopkins Medical Centre). And? More than 90% of women diagnosed with breast cancer at the earliest stage survive the disease (Cancer Research UK).
Here’s how to do a breast self-exam:
Women are encouraged to perform a self-exam at least once a month.
This month, you should also take the time to schedule an appointment at your nearest clinic for a Mammogram. A Mammogram is basically an x-ray of the breast to look for abnormalities. Mammograms can detect tumors even before they can be felt through a breast exam, which makes them vital for early detection and treatment.
There are several local hospitals e.g. Aga Khan, Nairobi Women’s, Mater, Karen Hospital etc, running special offers on cancer screening during the month of October so you have NO excuse! Book an appointment quick haste!
Breast Cancer Awareness is a cause that’s very dear to my heart. When I was 11 years old I lost my mom to breast cancer. To say that it was rough is an understatement.
It sucked. CANCER SUCKS.
